Hometown Rewards is calling on all Newton builders, tinkerers, thinkers and innovators to put their mind to the task, research and demonstrate an energy-efficient technology that you think is impactful.
Topics may include heating and cooling, insulation, air sealing, water heating and consumption, electronics, appliances, lighting, transportation, energy production sources and more. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in an elementary (2-6 grade), intermediate (7-12 grade) and adult (18+) competition.
Elementary prizes: first place $100 gift card, second place $50 gift card and third $25 gift card.
Intermediate prizes: first place $250 gift card, second place $100 gift card and third $50 gift card. Adult prizes: first place $500 gift card, second place $250 gift card and third $100 gift card.
For the adult competition, it is possible to win a bonus prize of $100 for an innovative project that has not been seen or done before. All projects will be further assessed for the possibility of receiving a Bright Ideas Grant through Alliant Energy. The competition and judging will be at the Hometown Rewards Energy Fair on May 26.
