Hawks golf teams place third in SICL triangular

BELLE PLAINE — Lynnville-Sully’s golf teams finished third at a South Iowa Cedar League triangular Monday hosted by Belle Plaine.

The Hawk girls shot a 288 as a team behind Iowa Valley with a 222 and Belle Plaine with a 258.

In the boys’ competition, Lynnville-Sully players combined for a 272 as Belle Plaine won with a 181 and Iowa Valley was second at 188.

Tessa Van Maanen came in with a 64 for the nine-hole event to lead the Lynnville-Sully girls. Kristine Jaenette carded a 71 followed by Ida Byggeth with a 73 and Kayla Van Dyke with an 80. Mikayla Smith shot an 85, and Kaylee Van Maanen had a 96.

Iowa Valley’s Greta Gunzenhauser was the girls’ medalist with a 49. Belle Plaine’s Lainey Par was the runner-up with a 55.

Holden Jansen carded a 58 as the low score for the Hawk boys. Caleb Jansen was two shots back at 60. Abram finished with a 68 followed by Cade Dibella with an 86.

Belle Plaine’s Brandon Zumbach, 41, and Chance Baburek, 45, were the medalist and runner-up for the boys’ division.

Lynnville-Sully’s golfers have a week to practice before their next meet. The Hawk teams host Sigourney Monday at Diamond Trail Golf Course in Lynnville. Tee time is 4:15 p.m.
