PCM boys golf opens with win

OSKALOOSA — Prairie City-Monroe senior Reid Jenkins was in mid-season form Tuesday during the Mustang boys golf team’s season opener at Harvest Point.

Jenkins carded a one-over-par 36 on his way to meet medalist honors, and PCM cruised to an easy victory over host Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and Lynnville-Sully.

The Mustangs shot a 161, defeating the Rockets by 21 shots. L-S turned in a 226.

All six Mustangs finished with a sub-50. After Jenkins was sophomore Noah Lanphier’s 41. Junior Ryan Hill and sophomore Dayton Boell each shot a 42 to round out the scoring, while senior Logan Gilman carded a non-counting 45 and freshman Andrew Van Ryswyk had a 49.

The Hawks were led by senior Caleb Jansen, who shot a 52. Senior Kyle Van Dyke turned in a 53, while sophomore Holden Jansen finished with a 58 and freshman Dane Fuchs had a 63. Abram Collins and Cade Dibello had non-counting scores of 74 and 77, respectively.

PCM plays at 1 p.m. Friday at Pella, while Lynnville-Sully hosts BGM and English Valleys at Diamond Trail Golf Course at 4:15 p.m. Thursday.
