Doctor fined for authorizing online prescriptions

DAVENPORT — An eastern Iowa doctor accused of prescribing medication to strangers online has agreed to pay a $10,000 fine.

The Iowa Board of Medicine released documents Wednesday that indicate 44-year-old Paul Bolger was issued a citation and ordered to pay the civil penalty in a Feb. 5 settlement. Bolger, who practices in Davenport, admitted he prescribed pain medication online to unfamiliar patients during a CBS News investigation.
