• Berg Middle School Drama will host two productions of “Comic Book Artist” at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday at Newton Senior High School. Twenty-seven students are participating from the middle school. The show will bring the incredibly popular comicbook genre to life with this hilarious action-packed superhero saga. Admission is free.

• Masonic Breakfast will begin at 6 a.m. Saturday at Preston Masonic Lodge, 407 W. Second St. in Prairie City.

• Newton High School After Prom Committee will host a pop can drive from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the high school, 800 E. Fourth St. S. in Newton. Donations go to After Prom activities.

• Garden Thyme Club will meet at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Deep Rock Station Gardens in Sully. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Contact the Sully City Clerk at 641-594-3493 for more information.

• Teen Challenge of the Midlands will host its car auction at 10 a.m. at its facility, in Colfax. Overflow auction parking and shuttle service will be available from Colfax-Mingo Jr/Sr High School.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Peer Support for those living with mental illness will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at Optimae Life Services, 1730 First Ave. E. in Newton.

• Iowa Marble Club Show will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Prairie City Community Building, 508 S. State St. in Prairie City. Mini marble show and marble ID day. Admission is free and a lunch will be provided. For more information visit www.IowaMarbleClub.com.

• Jasper County Conservation will host its cross-country ski and snowshoe clinic from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve in eastern Jasper County. Both beginners who wish to learn how to ski or snowshoe and the more advanced who wish to sharpen their skills on the trails are encouraged to attend. Snowshoes, skis and boots in all sizes will be available for a $10 equipment fee, or participants can bring their own equipment.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at noon and 7 p.m. Monday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Parkinson’s Support Group will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Park Centre Garden Room in Newton. For more information, contact Eloise Prater at 641-792-1018.

• Women’s Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at 219 N. Second Ave. W., in Newton.

• NAMI of Jasper County will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Skiff Medical Center, 204 N. Fourth Ave. E. in Newton. Discussion will include Mental Health First Aid classes and there will be time to talk about any personal matters. Enter the south entrance at Skiff and the meeting is in the south board room.

• City Street Project Open House will begin at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Newton Public Works Office, 1700 N. Fourth Ave. W. The City of Newton has completed a preliminary design for the reconstruction of North Fourth Avenue West from West Eighth Street North to West 15th Street North. The city is hosting an open house for this project to obtain public input.

• Discover Hope, a faith based addiction support group, will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at 219 N. Second Ave. W. in Newton.
