• Robert W. Chestnut, 25, of Colfax, is charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, driving while license under suspension and interference with official acts after authorities were called at 10 p.m. Monday to the 1200 block of East 19th Street North. Officers were called about a vehicle that had been struck. Officers located the vehicle and pulled it over. While approaching the vehicle, the officer saw the driver and passenger switch seats. Officers spoke with Chestnut, who was in the passenger seat and said he had not been driving. Later he admitted to switching seats and intentionally ramming the victim’s vehicle because the victim had taken money from him. The victim said Chestnut had been following the vehicle from Des Moines. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Lakeisha K. Hill, 19, of Des Moines, is charged with interference with official acts after authorities were called at 10 p.m. Monday to the 1200 block of East 19th Street North. Officers were called about a vehicle that had been struck. After pulling it over, found Hill in the driver’s seat. She later admitted she had not been driving the vehicle. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Benjamin T. McVey, 21, is charged with possession of a controlled substance after authorities were called at 10 p.m. Monday to the 1200 block of East 19th Street North. Officers were called about a vehicle that had been struck and found McVey in the vehicle. He was not involved with the incident but after being searched upon a request for a ride, officers found a necklace with marijuana in it. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Markell L. Bivins, 24, of Cedar Rapids, is charged with public intoxication and providing false identification information after authorities were called at 1:17 a.m. Monday to 1425 N. 11th Ave. E. Officers were called about a man sleeping in the hallway at an apartment complex. They found Bivins, who said his name was Michael Mark Johnson. Officers could not find any information on that name and asked if Bivins was sleeping there. He said he was waiting for his cousin who lived nearby. Officers could smell alcohol, and he had bloodshot, watery eyes. He admitted to drinking that night and had a BAC of .04. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Brandon D. Lint, 38, of Newton, is charged with driving while license under suspension after authorities pulled him over at 3:33 a.m. Tuesday in the intersection of East 10th Street North and North Fourth Avenue East. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Caleb J. Wilson, 25, of Montezuma, is charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving while license under suspension after authorities pulled him over at 7:24 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of East 10th Street North. While searching the vehicle officers found a half gram of marijuana. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
