Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, of Newton, and St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, of Sully, will host a traditional Ash Wednesday worship at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, 1409 S. Eighth Ave. E. in Newton.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the 40-day penitentials season of Lent. This year Lent begins Wednesday and ends with Easter on March 27.
During the 40 days of Lent Christians are called to reflect on the quality of their Christian faith and life through repentance, fasting, prayer and works of love. The community is welcome to join members and friends of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and for this worship service at Holy Trinity.
