Coaches v. Cancer Week agenda

Newton High School will host two Coaches v. Cancer Week events the week of Feb. 8. The first set of events will be around the Newton and Pella basketball games Tuesday and the second set will be around the Newton and Norwalk basketball games Feb. 12 at the high school.

The agenda of events is as follows:

Tuesday —

• Bake sale during the girls and boys varsity games against Pella;

• Dedication Wall and T-shirt orders taken to wear for the Friday game;

• National Anthem will be sung by the NCMP Aquagirls swim team;

• Woodrow Wilson and Aurora Heights’ students will have a basketball competition at halftime of varsity girls game;

• Legacy Night during halftime of the boys’ varsity game; and

• Recognition of boys and girls middle school basketball programs also during halftime of boys game.

Friday —

• Dedication Wall and a limited number of T-shirts to be sold;

• Middle School Lip-Sync students will perform at halftime of the varsity girls’ game;

• Recognition of the senior girls’ basketball players between varsity boys and girls games;

• Atlas Rea will return to be an honorary captain for the boys’ team;

• Pacesetters performance at halftime of boys’ game;

• Honor and recognize all loved ones and close friends of the boys and girls basketball players, coaches, cheerleaders and Pacesetters as the Varsity Chorale sings, Sarah Coy will speak to crowd;

• Miracle minute where buckets will be passed in the stands for donations to the American Cancer Society. Checks will be accepted. Pep band will also perform.

Newton High School encourages the Newton community to invite friends and family to the event. All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
