Robert George Johnson, 87, of Columbia, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at Colony Pointe Assisted Living Facility. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St., Columbia, Mo. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens mausoleum in Cleveland, Tenn.

Bob was born Sept. 22, 1928, in Grinnell to George Christopher and Helen Mabel (Alexander) Johnson. He graduated from Grinnell High School in Grinnell, and then attended Iowa State University, earning a bachelor of sciences degree in industrial engineering. He married Helen Staffanou of Grinnell, Aug. 16, 1950, and they had three children together. Bob worked for the Maytag Corporation and their subsidiary, Hardwick Stove Company in Cleveland, Tenn., until his retirement. He was an athlete and an avid fan of all sports. He enjoyed traveling and volunteering. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and served in the U.S. Army. Bob’s greatest joy was his family.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Susan of Jefferson, Wis., son, Randall (Teresa) of Kingsport, Tenn., daughter, Beth (Robert Livingston) of Columbia, Mo.; and five grandchildren, Christopher Johnson (Natalie), Blake Johnson (Jennifer), Kimberly Johnson, Jenna Livingston and Seth Livingston. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Helen Jan. 24, 1995; and his parents.
