• Robb P. Gammon, 40, of Newton, is charged with domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury after authorities were called at 9:36 p.m. Friday to the 200 block of West Ninth Street South. Officers were called about a domestic fight and spoke with the victim. She looked upset and frightened and had a large swelling on her left ear. She said Gammon had hit her injured ear. She was taken to the hospital to drain blood from her ear. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jennifer R. Honea, 30, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called at 3:24 p.m. Wednesday to 1323 First Ave. W. Officers spoke with an employee who said Honea was in the store and took a bottle of pain reliever valued at $2.13. A video showed a female identified as Honea putting the bottle in her pocket. She was cited and released to appear.

• Candice S. Clemens, 46, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called at 5:17 p.m. Friday to 1501 First Ave. E. Officers were called to Hy-Vee and spoke with an employee who pointed out a female that had placed items in her vehicle she had not purchased. Officers identified Clemens, who admitted to taking the items totaling $77.70. She was cited and released to appear.

• Ricky L. Donnelly, 39, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called at 4:25 p.m. Thursday to 120 N. Third Ave. E. Officers were called to Fareway where they spoke with an employee who saw Donnelly conceal a freeze deli sandwich valued at $1.99. He then paid for his beverage and left. He was cited and released to appear.
