EDDYVILLE — The first duals of the night did not go well for Lynnville-Sully’s wrestlers. The Hawks won three matches in the first one, losing 6-15 to Class 2A Chariton, and one match in the second dual, a 59-6 loss to host Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
Lynnville-Sully came out on top of Martensdale-St. Marys, 42-30, using seven forfeit wins. They didn’t win any of the three matches contested on the mat. Jack Hardin lost by a pin to Logan Schumacher, who is ranked No. 2 at 170 in Class 1A, in their 182-pound match.
Hardin pinned Nathaniel Jacob in 1 minutes, 15 seconds at 182 against Chariton. The Hawks’ 138-pounder Sage Zylstra won by a fall with six seconds left in the first period against Chariton’s Adrian Hill. At 170, Colten Arment pulled out an 11-8 win over Chariton’s Jade Spencer.
In the dual with EBF, the lone win for Lynnville-Sully came in the 152-pound match. Cayden Johnson pinned EBF’s Ryan Henkle in 3:03.
Lynnville-Sully will compete in Saturday’s South Iowa Cedar League Conference meet at Sigourney. Matches begin at 10 a.m.
