C-M Tigerhawks out to Beat Cancer

COLFAX — Colfax-Mingo’s Beat Cancer Week concludes Friday with a South Iowa Cedar League basketball doubleheader between the Tigerhawk teams and HLV.

Colfax-Mingo students and faculty have had a week of fundraising for The Children’s Cancer Connection. T-shirt sales, staff members paying to wear jeans and a kiss-a-pig contest. The C-M teacher getting the most money in the jar wars will kiss a pig at the Tigerhawk pep rally Friday.

“This year we’ve lost an associate to breast cancer, a former principal/school board member to lung cancer, and a student’s sibling to a brain tumor,” C-M teacher and cheering sponsor Jeanne Patterson said. “This is why the Tigerhawks want to beat cancer.”

The girls’ varsity game tips off at 6 p.m. followed by the boys’ game at 7:30 p.m. at Colfax-Mingo High in Colfax.
