Donald W. Bowie, Jr.

Donald “Butch” W. Bowie, Jr., the son of Donald Wayne, Sr. and Nadine (Vermillion) Bowie, was born June 25, 1944, in Newton.

Butch worked at the Newton Foundry, Moore Tool and Dye and retired from the maintenance department at Park Centre in Newton. Butch enjoyed cars, fishing, hunting and garage sales.

Butch died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at his home in rural Newton. He was 71 years old. Butch was preceded in death by his parents; and his twin sister in infancy, Diane.

Those left to honor Butch’s memory include his wife, Kelli Rea of Newton; his son Eric (Angie) Bowie of Newton; his daughter, Michelle (Paul) Detrick of Marshalltown; his grandchildren, Tate Bowie, Braxton Bowie, Sawyer Bowie and Jessica Detrick; his sister, Donna Vollers; and a nephew, Douglas.

A private family graveside service will be at a later date. Memorials in Don’s name may be left at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton.
