Newton Health Care Center is now a tobacco-free facility

Tobacco use is the No. 1 preventable cause of disease, disability and death in the United States. In Iowa, one out of five adults is a smoker.

With Iowa’s hope to become the healthiest state in the nation, it is important for communities to provide an environment that supports healthy behaviors and lifestyle choices. Establishing tobacco-free worksites helps to create an environment where everyone is able to breathe clean air at their place of employment.

Newton Health Care Center is demonstrating their commitment to the health and wellbeing of their employees, residents and visitors by designating their facility tobacco-free. All tobacco products, including electronic smoking devices, are prohibited on the property. Newton Health Care Center shows a true commitment to protecting employees and residents from the harmful effects of secondhand and third hand smoke and supports those who have chosen to quit using tobacco products.
