PCM girls improve to 2-0 with win over Rams

JEFFERSON — Good ball movement and unselfishness at the offensive end of the floor is leading to open shots for the Prairie City-Monroe girls’ basketball team.

Sooner or later, the shots will start to fall. For now, the Mustangs continue to play solid defense at the other end of the court.

Kayla Jennings finished with 12 points, six rebounds, five assists, eight steals and a blocked shot to lead the Mustangs to a 38-24 road win over Greene County on Tuesday night in the Heart of Iowa Conference opener.

Jayci Vos had eight points, five assists and four steals in the win, and it was her back-to-back 3-pointers that pushed the Mustangs’ margin to double digits early in the fourth quarter.

Vos’ consecutive treys extended PCM’s eight-point lead to 14 about 2 minutes into the fourth.

Katie Vande Wall had seven points and five boards, while Bailey Brodersen had three rebounds.

PCM (2-0) travels to HOIC rival South Hamilton on Tuesday.
