Newton Police Department

• Crystal L. Mendenhall, 28, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County warrant after authorities were called at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday to 100 N. 13th Ave. W. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Reid J. Wadzinski, 21, of Newton, is charged with operating while under the influence and possession of controlled substance after authorities pulled him over at 9 p.m. Nov. 13 to 400 W. Fourth St. N. Officers saw a vehicle with a brake light out and made a stop. Officers spoke with Wadzinski who had an open Mike’s Hard Lemonade in the vehicle as well as the smell of marijuana. He admitted to having two drinks that day as well as smoking marijuana. He was also found with marijuana in his pocket. He was cited and released to appear.

• Robert D. Campbell, 28, of Colfax, is charged with driving while license under suspension after authorities pulled him over at 11:04 p.m. Monday at the intersection of First Avenue West and West Fourth Street South. He was cited and released to appear.

• Rachel F. Bale, 22, of Newton, is charged with driving while license under suspension and speeding after authorities pulled her over at 8:34 p.m. Monday at the intersection of West Second Street North and First Avenue West. She was cited and released to appear.

• Reggie G. Smith, 35, of Monroe, is charged with driving while license under suspension after authorities pulled him over at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday on Iowa Speedway Drive. He was cited and released to appear.

Sheriff's Office

• William J. Steckel, 51, of Monroe, is charged with domestic abuse assault after authorities were called at 8:38 p.m. Saturday to 10474 W. 24th St. S., Monroe. Officers were called about an assault at the residence. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Rufus D. Williams, 21, of Oskaloosa, is charged with driving while license denied or revoked after authorities pulled him over at 10:10 a.m. Nov. 12 in the 5300 block of Highway 117 North. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Curtis D. Royce, 21, of Newton, is charged with possession of controlled substance after authorities were called at 9:03 p.m. Friday to 715 W. Fourth St. N. Royce was found possessing a bag of marijuana. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Kristopher C. Walker, 37, of Newton, is charged with operating while under the influence after authorities pulled his vehicle over at 12:33 a.m. Nov. 7 at 501 W. State St., Colfax. Officers had observed the vehicle speeding up and slowing down as well as weaving within its lane. The vehicle turned into a parking lot, then started to drive out, stopped and the driver, identified as Walker, got out. Officers went to check on the situation and spoke with Walker who said he thought there was a wheel bearing going out. Officers could smell alcohol coming from Walker. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Russell A. Warren, 47, of Pleasant Hill, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and operating while under the influence after authorities were called at 7:48 p.m. Saturday to 9211 N. Eighth Ave. W., Colfax. Officers were called about a vehicle in the middle of a field. Officers found Warren sitting in the vehicle with an open alcohol container and a blue marijuana smoking pipe. Officers could smell alcohol on Warren, and he had slurred speech. After being transported to the jail, he became combative and was put into a cell for safety reasons. When officers attempted to get a sample for a breath test he started to yell and said he just wanted to sleep and didn’t want to take the test. After closing the cell, he continued to yell and started punching the door window.
