Katherine McClure recognized by the Professional Photographers of Iowa

DES MOINES — Professional photographer Katherine McClure of Katherine McClure Photography in Prairie City was recently recognized in the Professional Photographers of Iowa’s Fall Print Competition.

McClure received three awards. “Art in the Shop” received a first place award in the commercial photography category, “Rusted” received second place in the Mr. Photogenic and “Turquoise and Stone” received an honorable mention in the Ms. Photogenic category.

In the competition, photographs are judged on their composition, lighting, posing, cropping and more. The judging is done by a panel of elite photographers as part of the Professional Photographers of Iowa’s annual fall conference in Des Moines.

“At this level, only the top photographs receive awards,” said Adam Hunter, Master Photographer, instructor at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo and judge in the competition. “Iowa boasts some of the best photographers in the nation. To be successful in an Iowa print competition demonstrates a photographer’s exceptional talent.”

McClure is a member of the Professional Photographers of Iowa, a statewide association of professional photographers whose mission is to provide education and fellowship for members. It was founded in Des Moines in 1946. Learn more at ppiowa.com.
