Amy Doerring receives multiple awards

DES MOINES — Professional photographer Amy Doerring of Amy Doerring Photography in Newton was recently recognized in the Professional Photographers of Iowa’s Fall Print Competition.

Doerring received eight awards: first place in the Lil’ Mr. Photogenic category, first place in the Mr. Photogenic category, first and third place in the Ms. Photogenic category, third place in the Lil’ Miss Photogenic category and three honorable mentions.

In the competition, photographs are judged on their composition, lighting, posing, cropping and more. The judging is done by a panel of elite photographers as part of the Professional Photographers of Iowa’s annual fall conference in Des Moines.

“At this level, only the top photographs receive awards,” said Adam Hunter, Master Photographer, instructor at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo and judge in the competition. “Iowa boasts some of the best photographers in the nation. To be successful in an Iowa print competition demonstrates a photographer’s exceptional talent.”

Doerring is a member of the Professional Photographers of Iowa, a statewide association of professional photographers whose mission is to provide education and fellowship for members. It was founded in 1946 in Des Moines. Learn more at ppiowa.com.
