• Annual Soup Supper will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Newton Congregational United Church of Christ, 308 E. Second St. N. There will be a choice of soup, dessert and beverage. There will be a freewill offering, and the proceeds of the offering will be donated to an organization in Belgrade, Serbia. Jeca Kaplanovic who attended Baxter High School as part of an exchange program and who is now a senior at Grinnell College will speak following the meal.
