Newton Police Department

• Doris K. Hardie, 48, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft and fifth-degree criminal mischief after authorities were called at 1:48 p.m. on Saturday to 1501 First Ave. E. Officers were called about a shoplifting incident and found Hardie, who allegedly took a hair dye product with no intent to pay for it. Hardie said she did not take anything else but Hy-Vee staff also found eye liner in her purse. The boxes were ripped open and the items were removed before they were placed back on the shelf, empty. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Shawn D. Ridenour, 47, of Newton, is charged with interference with official acts and assault after authorities were called at 9:38 p.m. Nov. 7 to 314 S. Second Ave. E. Officers were called about an unwanted guest and found Ridenour. Ridenour had a warrant for his arrest for a previous assault charge. He was upset and yelling and began walking towards officers. He then began to walk away, and the officers advised him to stop but he did not. Officers told him he would be tased if he did not turn around. He refused and placed his hands behind his back. He started digging in his pockets. He eventually turned around was placed with is hands behind his back and put in handcuffs. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Anita F. Fowler, 31, of Newton, is charged with domestic abuse assault after authorities were called at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to 721 First St. S. Officers were called about a domestic and found two females standing outside. Officers spoke with the victim who said she had gotten in an argument with Fowler, and it became physical. Fowler allegedly grabbed her sweatshirt and attempted to throw her to the ground. The victim had a mark on her left arm. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Marvin H. Allspach, 41, of Newton, is charged with possession of controlled substance after authorities were called at 8 p.m. Sunday to 309 E. 25th St. Place S. Officers were called about a verbal domestic fight. Upon arriving they found Allspach who said he had a warrant for his arrest. He was placed in handcuffs and officers found a plastic baggie in his pocket that contained methamphetamine. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Marty A. McConnell, 32, of Newton, is charged with driving while license under suspension after authorities were called at 11:50 p.m. Saturday to Union Drive and North Seventh Avenue West. He was cited and released to appear.

• Kimberly R. Winchell, 25, of Newton, is charged with driving while license under suspension after authorities were called at 7:08 p.m. Thursday to First Street North and North Third Avenue East. She was cited and released to appear.
