NASCAR pairing Xfinity, Trucks for one weekend at Iowa

Race fans can hear the roar of the engines already, even though the NASCAR races at Iowa Speedway don’t hit the track until June. With the announcement Monday afternoon of the 2016 racing dates, the Speedway has an historic weekend for NASCAR fans.

For the first time at Iowa Speedway, the track will feature both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series during the same weekend. Fans can make plans to celebrate Father’s Day weekend and these two series as they take center stage on Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19, 2016, in Newton.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series returns to the “Fastest Short Track on the Planet” for the U.S. Cellular 250 on July 30, 2016.

“Building on the momentum we generated coming off of the U.S. Cellular 250 in August, we are thrilled to welcome back the Xfinity Series twice, and for the first time in track history pair the Camping World Trucks with an Xfinity Series race here in Iowa,” Iowa Speedway President Jimmy Small said.

“We worked diligently with NASCAR to create the best season of racing for our fans and we’re excited to build equity in the June race weekend just like we’ve done with the U.S. Cellular 250 date.”

Announcements of additional series schedules at Iowa Speedway will be made as soon as they are available.

Plans are underway to deliver an amazing lineup of event content and summer-long programming for fans to enjoy. An announcement of on-sale dates for season, weekend and individual tickets will be made soon.

All 2015 season ticket purchasers will receive their renewal information prior to tickets going on sale. Renewal customer seats are on-hold and guaranteed if purchased during the renewal period.

The final 2016 schedule will be announced later this fall, including start times and event schedules.
