Four to hospital in U.S. 65 crash

Three people were injured and four taken to a hospital Saturday after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 65, Iowa Highway 330 and Iowa 117 in northwestern Jasper County, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

A white Nissan Murano SUV, driven by Christopher B. Hart, of Omaha, Neb. was heading from the median to the northbound stretch of U.S. 65 when his vehicle was struck by a maroon Buick Century driven by Candace S. Kriegel Jantzen, 33, of Grinnell, who was headed southbound on Iowa 330, according to an Iowa State Patrol report.

Kriegel Jantizen and her three passengers, Aurora Kriegel Querry, 6, Tracy L. McClure, 51, and Tim Jantzen, 47, all of Tama, were transported to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Their conditions were not known at press time.

Hart had minor injuries and declined to be taken by ambulance. He was cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic; there are stop signs within the median at the intersection.

There are flashing lights on the four-lane U.S. 65/Iowa 330 four-lane roadway that is a part of the well-documented deadly intersection.
