O’Malley to visit Newton UAW Hall

Democratic presidential candidate and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley will host a roundtable discussion at 3 p.m. Friday at the UAW Local 997 Hall, 1813 First St. N., in Newton.

His campaign says the roundtable is slated to be “with Iowa workers to discuss trade policies and how to build a strong American economy for the middle class.” O’Malley also plans to roll out his criteria for good trade policies at the event.

The stop is part of O’Malley’s 14th trip to Iowa since announcing his bid for president. He spoke and took questions at a July 3 event at Uncle Nancy’s Coffee House and Eatery that brought in about 90 people.
