The State Association for the Preservation of Iowa Cemeteries will meet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Newton Public Library. The association is especially interested in the preservation and restoration of Pioneer Cemeteries. A Pioneer Cemetery is one where there are 12 or fewer burials in the past 50 years.
At noon, a program will be given on software to manage cemetery burials and sales. The software can handle multiple cemeteries, up to 20,000 burials and is inexpensive to purchase.
Township trustees and clerks and others who care for cemeteries are invited to attend. There is no cost to attend the meeting and/or the afternoon program.
