Attorney seeks ‘intoxication defense’ in shooting

PLEASANT HILL — A man accused of randomly shooting at people in Pleasant Hill last year plans to argue at his trial next week that he was too intoxicated to know what he was doing. Pete Polson’s attorney, Philip Reser, filed court papers indicating he planned to present an “intoxication defense.” The papers don’t indicate whether Polson says he was intoxicated by alcohol, drugs or both. Police say the 33-year-old Polson drove around a Pleasant Hill neighborhood on Nov. 17 and fired shots at three people, wounding two of them.
