• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Battlefield of the Mind women’s study will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at Hephzibah House, 721 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Penny Bingo will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Jasper County Senior Citizens Center, 702 E. Third St. S. in Newton.

• Kellogg Lions Club’s Pancake Breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday at the Cabin in the Park in Kellogg. Served will be scrambled eggs and sausage, pancakes, juice, coffee and/or milk for your donation. Profits will benefit the club’s budget for the food expense.

• Colfax and Mingo Communities Blood Drive will begin at 7:15 a.m. Saturday at Colfax-Mingo Elementary School, 20 W. Broadway St. in Colfax.

• The Fast & The Furriest 1.5 mile fun run/walk will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at Agnes Patterson Park and Newton Arboretum. All proceeds will be used to enhance Newton’s many parks, including the Newton Dog Park.

• Jasper County Genealogical Society Open House will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at County Annex, 115 N. Second Ave. E. in Newton. The Jasper County Genealogical Society has moved its location. The library is located at the back entrance to the building.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton.

• Sensory Friendly Movie will begin at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at Capitol II Theater, in Newton. A special showing of “Hotel Transylvania 2” for individuals with special needs and their families. For more information, contact Dawn at 641-275-1356.

• Fall Festival will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at east entrance of Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve, in Newton. The Jasper County Conservation Department will be hosting a Fall Festival from until 2 p.m. Come enjoy a wonderful fall afternoon with a chili contest, hayrack rides, live music, a prairie maze and yard games.
