Tigerhawk netters fall short at BGM

BROOKLYN — Megan Earles had a double-double and Mackensie Brown had 23 digs in her first match as Colfax-Mingo’s libero, but the Tigerhawk volleyball team dropped a four-setter to BGM during South Iowa Cedar League play on Monday.

Earles had 16 assists, 10 digs and four kills, but BGM won the match 25-13, 20-25, 25-22, 25-21.

Ries Wilson led the Tigerhawks with nine kills, and she also had 17 digs, while Dakota Hostetter also had 17 digs and five kills.

Colfax-Mingo (4-9 overall, 2-4 in SICL) returns to action at 7 p.m. Thursday against Lynnvile-Sully in Colfax.

The win ended a two-match losing skid for BGM (9-9, 3-3).

PCM goes 2-2 at Nevada, loses to Roland-Story

The Prairie City-Monroe volleyball team went 2-2 this weekend at the Nevada Invitational and then the Mustangs lost in two sets to Heart of Iowa Conference rival Roland-Story on Monday night.

The Mustangs needed three sets to defeat Ankeny Christian Academy and Atlantic at the Nevada Tournament on Saturday.

PCM took down ACA 21-15, 18-21, 15-11 and took down Atlantic 24-26, 25-19, 16-14.

The two losses came in straight sets to Ballard and Carlisle.

On Monday, Roland-Story defeated PCM (5-16) 21-15, 21-15.

Statistics were not available at press time.

PCM hosts HOIC rival Collins-Maxwell/Baxter at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
