Mustangs swept by Greene County in HOIC road match

JEFFERSON — Junior Ashley Van Gorp had five kills, seven digs and was 7-of-8 in serving with one ace, but that effort wasn’t enough during the PCM volleyball team’s three-set loss to Greene County in Heart of Iowa Conference play on Thursday.

The Mustangs also got three kills and five blocks from sophomore Regan Olson, but Greene County came away with the 25-15, 25-16, 25-10 win at home.

Junior Kayla Jennings dished out 14 assists, while junior Tatum Nearmyer, sophomore Olivia Lippman and senior Kendal Earley all had four digs.

Freshman Maddie Samson contributed three blocks and three aces, and she was 10-of-12 in serves.

The Mustangs (2-13 overall, 1-4 in HOIC) were 34-of-39 in serves. Jennings was 8-of-9 with one ace and Mackenzie Messick was 5-for-5 with one ace.

Nadia Fisher led Greene County (8-11, 2-3) with seven kills, nine digs and was 16-of-19 in serving. The Rams won their third straight match.

PCM, which has lost four straight matches, plays in the Nevada tournament on Saturday. Action starts at 8:30 p.m.
