‘BUS-eum’ to make Newton stop Wednesday afternoon

A traveling “BUS-eum” retrofitted school bus, loaded with historical exhibits, has been traveling throughout the state and arrives in Newton on Wednesday. The exhibit will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at DMACC and from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Jasper County Historical Museum.

Docent Irving Kellman will guide visitors through the bus at both locations exploring  topics such as why Iowans vote the way they do. Later, at the museum, curator Michael Luick Thrams will continue the discussion in the museum meeting room with hopes that members of the community will join in the conversation, as that is a key component of the program.

It’s free to all, and coffee, cookies and lemonade will be available during the early evening discussion.
