Kelley appointed to Iowa Commission on Interstate Cooperation

DES MOINES — State Representative Dan Kelley (D-Newton) has been selected by House Minority Leader Mark Smith to serve on the Iowa Commission on Interstate Cooperation to represent Iowa and serve as a member of the Council of State Governments (CSG).

“Rep. Kelley has shown a great ability to work with his fellow legislators to craft legislation, which is why I have chosen him to work alongside legislators from around the country to create meaningful, uniform laws that will help all citizens,” Smith (D-Marshalltown) said.

The Iowa Commission on Interstate Cooperation assists with creating contact between officials and employees from Iowa with other states around the country. The committee is tasked with generating cooperation in the adoption of uniform laws.

Since 1933, CSG has worked to promote excellence in state government though a variety of publications, forums and policy development programs. CSG identifies emerging trends and offers innovative state policy solutions as well as discussing the critical issues facing state governments.

This bipartisan committee includes five state senators and five state representatives and meet outside of the legislative session during odd-number years.
