Frances L. (Clement) Curtis, 81, of Davis, Calif., formerly of Newton, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Courtyard Healthcare Center in Davis. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, The Epilepsy Foundation, Susan B. Komen for the Cure, or Sutter Hospice may be left at the funeral home.

Frances, the daughter of Earl and Elsa Mae (Swanson) Clement, was born June 11, 1934, in Jasper County. She graduated from Newton High School in 1952. She was united in marriage with LeRoy Curtis May 22, 1955, in Newton. The couple moved to California in 1961. Frances was a devoted wife and mother who took great enjoyment in caring for her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed taking pictures and was known to be a great cook.

Those left to honor Frances’ memory include her children, Roger (Liz) Curtis of Granite Bay, Calif., Randy (Antonia) Curtis of West Fargo, N.D., and Rhonda (Dave) Smith of Vacaville, Calif.; her grandchildren, Christal Serfass, Michael Curtis, Todd Smith, Michelle Curtis, Max Curtis and Lucy Curtis; her great-grandchildren, Jessica Serfass, Keira Flowers and Robert Flowers; her three sisters, Phyllis Cavitt of Newton, Ardis Fleener of Mason City, and Doris Strovers of Pleasant Hill; her brother-in-law, Tom Lloyd of Newton; sister-in-law, Leora Albers of Rialto, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy; son, Rodney Curtis; great-granddaughter, Breanna Curtis; sister-in-law, Edith Lloyd; and brother-in-law, John Albers.
