Lynnville-Sully downs Tri-County

THORNBURG — It’s three in a row for Lynnville-Sully’s volleyball team. Since opening South Iowa Cedar League play, the Hawks have chalked up three straight wins.

The Hawks defeated host Tri-County, 25-11, 25-13, 25-22, Tuesday.

Brenna Lanser rolled up a double-double in volleyball for Lynnville-Sully with 17 kills and 28 digs. She also served up eight aces. Skyler Young put up 12 set assists and Carson Fisk was credited with 10 assists.

Makenzy Rozendall pounded down eight kills and made 11 digs. Kristen Van Der Wilt came up with 16 digs, and served five aces.

“We served very well,” Lynnville-Sully head coach Heather James said. “ We play very all in the first two sets. In the third set, Tri-County came alive, and we lost some of our intensity. We had to regroup and bring back our game, and take home the win.”

Lynnville-Sully won the junior varsity match, 25-19, 25-12. McKinley Conover had five kills, four digs and five ace serves. Shiloh Cunningham put down three kills and had five digs. Rozendaal had four digs. Allison Renaud went 9-for-9 at the service line with four aces.

In the freshman/sophomore match, the Hawks won 21-15, 21-14. Kayla Van Dyke delivered three kills, and went 6-for-6 serving with two aces. Andrea Bogaard had three ace serves, going 5-for-5. Madison Johnson had three set assists and Kaylee Maasdam made three digs.

Lynnville-Sully (5-2, 3-0) hosts Montezuma Thursday in SICL play in Sully.
