PCM girls win Pleasantville Invite, boys finish third

PLEASANTVILLE — Four Prairie City-Monroe runners finished in the top eight and the Mustangs’ girls cross country team captured the team title at Pleasantville on Monday.

Jayci Vos finished in third to lead the way, while Payton Schut crossed in fifth and Morgan Novak and Megan Townley were seventh and eighth, respectively.

The Mustangs won the meet without of the services of two of their top runners in Rachel Stafford and Baylee Smith, who continue to miss action due to injuries.

The PCM boys squad placed third as a team, with junior Chris Ellens crossing in third. Blake Lee was 12th, Noah Henkenius finished 13th and Trent Howard placed 14th.

PCM will run again at 4:30 p.m. Thursday as it travels to Lynnville-Sully. The Mustangs’ home meet is Oct. 24 at Gateway Municipal Golf Course.
