• A 17-year-old juvenile is charged with simple misdemeanor trespass after authorities were called to Newton High School at 3 p.m. Sept. 2. Officers spoke with Officer Brian Foster who said the juvenile was in the band lot at the school trying to fight several people. He had been served a notice of trespass on March 31 for the same reason. He was cited and released to appear.

• Monica J. Bayne, 43, of Newton, is charged with operating while under the influence after authorities were called to the 200 block of West Fourth Street South at 5:38 p.m. June 16. Officers were called about an accident and found Bayne who smelled of alcohol. The side bumper and door were smashed against the driver’s side of a truck that was parked the opposite direction. She admitted that she had a small drink and later admitted that she takes a muscle relaxer. Officers found inside her purse two large cans of Four Loco, unopened. She was cited and released to appear.

• Taggart L. Stanley, 24, of Newton, is charged with failure to maintain control after authorities were called to the 1300 block of First Avenue East at 2:45 p.m. Sept. 4. Joan Myers was traveling east on First Avenue when she stopped at a traffic light. Stanley was traveling behind Myers and did not see her stop resulting in his vehicle hitting her vehicle. Both vehicles had approximately $500 in damage. He was cited and released to appear.

• Edwin D. Van Zee, 80, of Newton, is charged with unsafe entry onto sidewalk or roadway after authorities were called to Walmart at 10:59 a.m. Sept. 7. Madisen Walker was traveling north on Iowa Speedway Drive when Van Zee exited the Walmart driveway, his vehicle hitting Walker’s vehicle. He said that he did not see the vehicle because of the glare of the sun. Both vehicles had approximately $3,000 in damage. He was cited and released to appear.

• Adam R. Brown, 23, of Newton, was arrested on two Marion County warrants for theft and criminal mischief after authorities were called to 821 S. 13th Ave. E. at 1:40 a.m. Sunday. He was turned over to a Marion County deputy.

• Timothy C. Harsh, 40, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled him over in the Medicap parking lot. He was cited and released to appear.

• John D. Dawson, 40, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled him over in the 500 block of First Avenue West at 12:18 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Somer M. McAlister, 30, of Colfax, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to 1323 First Ave. W. at 1:28 p.m. Thursday. Officers spoke with employees who showed a video of a women, identified as McAlister, take candy bars, lime salt and cigarettes from the store. She was cited and released to appear.

• Justin T. Campbell, 24, of Newton, is charged with driving while license denied or revoked after authorities pulled him over in the 100 block of North Second Avenue at 10 p.m. Saturday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
