Linda D. Smith, 68, of Newton, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at the Park Centre Care Center in Newton.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16 at the Elks Lodge, 111 E. Second St. S. in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16 at the Newton Elks Lodge. Memorials to WesleyLife Hospice or to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League & Humane Society may be left at the Elks on Wednesday evening or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. Memorials may also be mailed to the Wallace Family Funeral Home please add, Attn: Smith Family on the envelope.

Those left to honor Linda’s memory are her daughter, Tracy Smith Dodd of Newton; granddaughter, Macee Smith-Leavens of Iowa City; and her brother, David (Sarah) Hall of Brooklyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Shari Lee Smith in 1983; and her significant other, Gary Hearl in 2014.
