• Monarch Tagging will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Mariposa Park in Newton. Jasper County Conservation is looking for volunteers who are interested in learning about monarch butterfly migration and who are willing to help in the Monarch Watch tagging research program. • Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Musician Blake Bolerjack will be featured at 7 p.m. Thursday at Bar None Cowboy Church in Newton.

• Jasper County Democrats will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Garden Room at Park Centre in Newton. Topics of discussion will include local presidential campaign updates, October Soup Supper plans, the planned Youth Caucus scheduled for November, as well as the February Caucus. A representative from “Iowa Pays the Price” will speak. All Democrats are welcome.

• Battlefield of the Mind women’s study will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at Hephzibah House, 721 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Penny Bingo will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at Jasper County Senior Citizens Center, 702 E. Third St. S. in Newton.

• 9/11 Firefighter’s Memorial Service will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Newton Fire Department. NFD is partnering with Newton’s final Thunder Nites on the courthouse square. Service will be followed by a short processional parade of emergency vehicles to the square.

• Thunder Nites will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the Jasper County Courthouse in Newton.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton.

• Peer Support for those living with mental illness will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at Optimae Life Services, 1730 First Ave. E. in Newton.

• Newton Church of The Way will host its 2015 Fall Fest from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church, 2306 S. Third Ave. E. in Newton. Free family and children activities including barrel train rides, bounce house, sports center, slides and prizes. A pulled pork meal will be served. Freewill offering will be accepted.

• Narcotics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.
