Missing Colfax woman found in Missouri

A 76-year-old Colfax woman has been found after a lengthy search reaching into bordering states. Karen Schlosser was found in Rockport, Mo. at 10:30 p.m. Thursday after she was last seen that morning in Sully.

Schlosser was last seen at 9:30 a.m. driving a white Dodge pickup. She suffers from Aphasia, which may have caused difficulty in her communicating with people she came into contact with. She also did not have a cellphone with her.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office first requested the public’s assistance in locating her through their Facebook page at about 4 p.m. The Iowa State Patrol joined in the search with aircraft and first responders were searching on ground. At approximately 8 p.m. the search expanded to neighboring states.

Local citizens in Rockport assisted Schlosser in calling her family and local law enforcement officers made contact with her and reunited her with her family. She was reported to be in good health.

“The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and the Schlosser family would like to thank all those who helped in the search,” Sheriff John Halferty said.
