Hoebelheinrich says farewell as Burdess takes the reins

Colleagues from around central Iowa along with local community members came to say congratulations and thanks to retiring Newton Police Chief Jeff Hoebelheinrich on Tuesday at city hall. Hoebelheinrich served Newton for 33 years, the last six as chief.

Mayor Mike Hansen swore in Newton Police Chief Rob Burdess at a ceremony held Tuesday at city hall. Burdess was announced as the new chief of police on Aug. 10 and takes over for Jeff Hoebelheinrich.
