Newton Police Department

• Karen K. Chapman, 50, of Newton, is charged with driving while license denied or revoked after authorities pulled her over in the 800 block of West Fourth Street South at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jeri S. Fahrenkrug, 32, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to Walmart at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday. Officers spoke with an employee who saw Fahrenkrug take girl’s clothing items and put them in her purse. She then attempted to leave without paying. She admitted to taking the items without plans to pay for them. They totaled $58.23. She was cited and released to appear.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

• Rebekah L. Mullen, 26, of West Des Moines, is charged with public intoxication after authorities were called to the 7000 block of Highway F48 at 1:26 a.m. Thursday. Officers spoke with Mullen who said she got into an argument with her husband and got out of her vehicle. She said she walked two miles after exiting the vehicle. She smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and she admitted to drinking. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Penny S. Cowman, 46, of Monroe, is charged with driving while barred after authorities pulled her over at 5691 Highway S74 S. at 4:54 p.m. Wednesday. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
