Events

• Mineral Springs Days spaghetti dinner will begin at 5 p.m. Friday in downtown Colfax, located at the senior center. This meal is available with a freewill donation. A street dance and Lonesome Road concert will start at 8 p.m. on West Howard Street. Admission is $2.

• Live music will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at Rock Creek State Park, 5627 Rock Creek E. St. in Kellogg. The featured band will be Lincoln Highway, performing next to the boat dock and concession stand. Freewill offering for the band.

• Kerri Brenner Memorial Golf Tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Colfax Country Club. Tee times are at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. All proceeds will go toward scholarships for the Colfax-Mingo High School graduating seniors. Call Colfax Country Club at 515-674-3776 to reserve your spot.

• Mineral Springs Days will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday in downtown Colfax. Events include: kids superhero activities, “Artists Assemble” sidewalk chalk art contest, Peter Parker Spelling Bee, “Colfax Caped Crusader” costume contest and a demolition derby at the county fairgrounds.

• Coffee with a Cop will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Hy-Vee Market Cafe, 1501 First Ave. E. in Newton. All county residents are invited to attend.

• Newton Downtown Mini Golf Event will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday in downtown Newton. The event features nine Main Street District businesses hosting custom-made miniature golf holes inside their buildings. Golfers can sign up on the day of the event at the Chamber of Commerce, 113 First Ave. W. and have until noon to finish the course. Golf balls and putters will be provided. The event is open to the public.

• Piecemakers Quilt Guild Sewing Day will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at St, Luke United Methodist Church, 501 E. 19th St. N. in Newton. The group will be finishing up any charity quilt and/or baby quilt projects. Officers for the new year will have a short meeting to discuss the new years agenda.

• “Pawn Stars” cast member Rick Harrison will be campaigning for Marco Rubio, presidential candidate, at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Bridgehouse Coffee Co., in Newton. Harrison will share “his fascinating life journey” and why he is endorsing the U.S. Senator from Florida in the 2016 presidential race.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Peer Support for those living with mental illness will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at Optimae Life Services, 1730 First Ave. E. in Newton.

• Warner Family Reunion will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at Maytag Park, West Shelter in Newton.

• Cadillac Jack’s BBQ Cook-Off will begin 4 p.m. Saturday at Cadillac Jack’s, 108 N. Main St. in Baxter.

• Justin Roberts in Concert will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Maytag Bowl in Maytag Park in Newton. The event is free and other children’s activities begin at 5:30 p.m.

• Narcotics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at noon Monday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton.

• Celebrate Recovery women’s study will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at Hephzibah House, 721 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Women’s Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at 219 N. Second Ave. W. in Newton.
