DES MOINES — The call of the wild rang out from Pioneer Hall during the bird calling contests held at the 2015 Iowa State Fair.
Contestants did their best imitations of chickens, roosters, ducks and turkeys to the delight of the many fairgoers gathered. Chad Wood and Jessica Fryer, both of Prairie City, entered the turkey calling 17 and older category. Wood took first in the competition while Fryer placed third.
