Newton Police Department

• Joshua R. Kaisand, 24, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to Walmart at 3:05 p.m. Friday. Officers spoke with an employee who said a man had taken four PS4 games from the store. The employee was able to identify the vehicle that brought and took away the man from the store. Officers identified the owner of the vehicle and found Kaisand at the residence who admitted to taking the items. They totaled $59.88. He was cited and released to appear.

• Randall G. Meyer, 56, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled him over on South Fourth Avenue East at 4:05 p.m. Aug. 5. He was cited and released to appear.

• Shamus C. Baltisberger, 21, of Newton, was arrested on a mittimus warrant after authorities were called to 904 N. Sixth Ave. E. at 10:49 a.m. Thursday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

Sheriff’s Office

• Jordan M. Sexton, 19, of Newton, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities were called to the intersection of Oakwood Avenue and Thomas Jefferson Street at 12:16 a.m. Monday. Officers stopped to talk with Sexton and while patting him down for weapons officers found a glass pipe in his pocket. The pipe smelled of marijuana and he admitted to using it to smoke marijuana. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Tait L. Belyew, 46, of Placerville, Calif., is charged with disorderly conduct and operating while under the influence after authorities pulled him over at 5627 Rock Creek E. at 7:54 p.m. Sunday. Officers were contacted by campers about a fight people heard from across the inlet in the pond. They stopped Belyew to check on his status from a suspected stab wound. They could smell alcohol on him and he had bloodshot eyes. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Lisa M. Belyew, 39, of Placerville, Calif., is charged with consumption of alcohol in public place after authorities were called to Rock Creek State Park at 7:40 p.m. Sunday. Officers found Belyew laying down, and it took several attempts to wake her. Officers could smell alcohol on her and she admitted to drinking whiskey. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
