• Nathan D. McWhirter, 34, of Newton, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear after authorities were called to 904 E. 12th St. N. at 9:38 a.m. Monday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jolene K. Bahri, 54, of Newton, is charged with fifth degree theft after authorities were called to Walmart at 12:34 p.m. Sunday. Officers spoke with the loss control specialist who said she saw a woman, identified as Bahri, conceal merchandise including bed sheets and leave the store without paying. Bahri was seen on a store video concealing the sheets. Bahri said she had receipts for the sheets but after showing the receipt the bar code numbers did not match. The items were worth $82.76. She was cited and released to appear.

• Treaver J. Brown, 20, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to Walmart at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Officers spoke with an employee who said a man identified as Brown had taken a tape measure and was sitting in the parking lot. Officers spoke with Brown and he denied any involvement. He later said that he was broke and had no money and admitted to taking the tape measure because needed it for a job that he was going to be starting. It was valued at $17.09. He was cited and released to appear.

• Colton J. Conroy, 25, of Jefferson, is charged with failure to obey stop or yield sign after authorities were called to the intersection of East 12th Street North and North Fourth Avenue East at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday. Emily Karsten was traveling through the intersection when Conroy pulled into the intersection and his vehicle struck the passenger side of Karsten vehicle. Conroy said he did not see Karsten’s vehicle. Karsten had approximately $1,500 in damage and Conroy had approximately $800 in damage. He was cited and released to appear.
