Robert P. Ferguson

Robert P. “Whitey” Ferguson, 84, of Sylvania, Ga.; formerly of Newton, died June 17, 2015, in Sylvania, Ga. A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 29 at the Newton Union Cemetery in the Veterans’ section in Newton. Memorials to the Veterans Memorial Fund or to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League & Humane Society may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home. Please add, Attn: Ferguson Family on the envelope.

Those left to honor Whitey’s memory are his children, Mitch (Peggy) Ferguson of Johnston, Kim (Kevin) Browning of Newton, and John (Stacey) Ferguson of West Des Moines; five grandchildren, John (Haley) Ferguson, Jake Ferguson (Misty Johnson), Mike Browning, Mark Browning and Jessica Ferguson; eight great-grandchildren, Bryce, Emma, Haley, Hunter, Gunner, Lydia, Dallas and Riley; and his two sisters, Elizabeth Bayse of Colorado and Esther Pence of Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joe and Lyle Ferguson.
