‘Evening of Story Telling’ at St. Stephen’s

Author David Nelson, a former Dubuque resident, will present “An Evening of Story Telling” on 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen’s Church. All are welcome.

An authority on child abuse, Nelson has written three books related to this subject. “The Shade Tree Choir,” which can be found at the Newton Public Library, deals with the specific physical and emotional abuse he suffered as a child. “PALS: Part One” takes the reader through the teenage years and how five friends helped him to cope. “PALS: Part Two” shows how he experienced success after abuse. He has just released “If Hilld Could Talk” (short stories set in Dubuque and Tennessee) and “My Treasure” (a book of poetry).

Nelson is a retired physical therapist, office ergonomist and national public speaker. A storyteller, he is the Cowboy Poet Laureate of Tennessee and has performed across America. His book, “The Campfire Collection of Cowpoke Poetry” is filled with his poems and stories.

Wednesday, Nelson will be highlighting his works and will also be selling and signing his books. This event is sponsored by The Newton Page Turners Book Club.
