CMB 10,

Madrid 0, 6 innings

MADRID — Nate Bishop pitched a shutout on the mound and had two hits and an RBI at the plate Wednesday as the Raiders won their second straight non-conference game following a six-inning road victory against Madrid.

The game was a first-round district preview as the same two teams will meet in the Class 2A District 14 opener at 5 p.m. Saturday in Ogden.

The appetizer to that game went completely in favor of CMB, who concluded the regular season with an overall record of 8-14.

Bishop fanned eight and scattered four hits over six innings to earn the win on the bump.

At the plate, CMB cranked out 12 hits. Hunter McWhirter stayed hot with three more hits and two RBIs, while Seth Balke and Brady Kemp joined Bishop with two hits apiece. Balke scored three runs and Kemp crossed homeplate twice. Brady Stover had one hit, scored once and drove in two for the Raiders.

Each team left 10 runners on base, and they combined for six errors — four by Madrid (9-15).
