• James R. Garland, 35, of Newton, is charged with driving while license denied after authorities pulled him over at the intersection of East Eighth Street South and South 13th Avenue East at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Dakota R. Mindham, 21, of Newton, is charged with fifth degree theft after authorities were called to Fresh Start E-cigs at 3:23 p.m. May 21. Officers spoke with the owner who said that he saw Mindham put sample vapors in his pockets that totaled $65. A warrant was issued for Mindham.

• Michael D. Cassady, 36, of Newton, is charged with disorderly conduct after authorities were called to 200 N. 13th Ave. W. at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday. Officers were called about a loud bass and spoke with two neighbors who said that it had happened on several occasions. Officers found that in the past six months there were seven calls regarding the loud bass and Cassady had been warned on several occasions. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
