Summer paddling events set for July

Jasper County Conservation is inviting the public to rent canoes and kayaks during two public paddle dates in July.

There will be lake paddles from 6 to 8 p.m. July 16 and July 28 at Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve. These programs are for those who wish to try the equipment out, sharpen their paddling skills and enjoy being on the water.

To participate, you must register by filling out a form found on JCCB's website at www.jaspercountyconservation.com. All registration forms need to be returned to the Jasper County Conservation's office prior to the events at 1030 W. Second St. S. in Newton.

There is a small fee per person for use of the equipment that can be paid the day of the event. A limited number of boats are available. Lifejackets will be provided. More information about the paddle events can be found on the conservation website.
