PCM lefty Brown throws no-hitter against Clarke

OSCEOLA — Austin Brown tossed a no-hitter and struck out six in five innings of work against Clarke and Trey Lindsay had two hits, three runs and three stolen bases at the plate.

Brown was a dropped third strike away from throwing a perfect game.

Brown also had two hits and an RBI at the plate, while Clay Cooper had two hits and scored twice in the win. Cooper also had two RBIs and two stolen bases and he walked once.

Ethan Thomas finished with two hits, one run and three RBIs for the Mustangs (6-12).

Tyler Townsend had a hit in his only plate appearance and scored once and drove in two more.

PCM travels to Gladbrook-Reinbeck on Wednesday. The Mustangs host Class 3A No. 6 Gilbert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

PELLA — The Hawks were held to just three hits over seven innings, and the loss snapped a four-game losing streak.

Noah Engle, Caleb James and Tyler VanZante all had one hit in the loss. VanZante scored the run and James had the RBI.

Jake Brand started on the mound and took the loss. He allowed three earned runs on five hits in the complete-game loss.

Josh Dunsbergen threw one inning and gave up one run on one hit.

The Hawks (12-7) travel to North Mahaska on Wednesday.
