Newton Municipal Band invites community to Thursday performance

The Newton Municipal Band will continue the Newton Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Concerts in the Park series at 7 p.m. Thursday night at Maytag Bowl, in Maytag Park.

For its third performance of the summer, the band welcomes back to the podium Dan Stecker.  Stecker is director of the Pleasantville High School Band and has directed the Municipal Band for the last several summers.

Stecker has chosen a variety of pieces of music, both fun and challenging, for the evening’s line-up.  Fred Chabot will be master of ceremonies, sharing interesting tidbits about each piece.

Domino’s will again be selling pizza by the slice at the top of the hill, so no need to worry about supper.  Domino’s is a longtime supporter of the arts in Jasper County, especially in the schools.  The Municipal Band appreciates their support.

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets, get your pizza at the top of the hill, and enjoy the music in this wonderful outdoor setting.  It’s a great way to spend an evening.

The fourth and final concert of the summer will be July 2.
